Last Day in Montreal

Lunch at Jardine Nelson in Old Town Montreal.  Great French Crepes and a nice terrace atmosphere.

  Paper dresses on display.

  More paper dresses.

Bob in Notre Dame Basilica.  Such a gorgeous place.

Beautiful Notre Dame Basilica in Old Town Montreal

This building was built from 1824-1829 with an Irish, Protestant architect from New York. The towers were begun in 1841 and completed in 1843. There are many weddings in this church, but the waiting time is 2 years!!!! Celine Dion was married here in 1994.

Carriage Ride in Old Town Montreal

Really a great idea as it was very, very hot today in Montreal-- nearly 89 degrees with high humidity. Nearly a record. Friends, Doug and Sally Hoy from Seattle arrived at 11:00 last night, in time for at least one day of touring Montreal before we sail tomorrow. We were able to see many old buildings from the 1600s when Montreal was founded by the French.

Helping Toni Get Her Blog Started

Well, this isn't as easy as we thought it might be since we can't even get the internet to stay connected!!!!  Blah.......   I have been switching back and forth from my Ipad to my laptop and that in itself is a challenge.  Need to quit that right now.

We finally finished after a few fits and starts and a few glasses of wine!!!!  Toni will do fine.

Montreal a week from today

It feels like fall here in the North Carolina mountains and a week from today, we will be in Montreal, hopefully with fall weather there, too.  Toni and Charlie leave this Friday for their drive to Boston, where they will spend some time with friends, Kathy and Chuck Gallo before flying in to Montreal. The rest of us are putting together the packing lists and waiting to do last minute laundry.  We still have the rest of the week, along with Labor Day weekend, to finish last minute chores.

This is what we hope to see in Montreal.

Welcome to our latest adventures

We are about two weeks out from leaving for Montreal.  We will spend 2 1/2 days exploring what Montreal has to offer.  There are so many areas to explore including a world renown Botanical Gardens, the Olympic Stadium, various shopping venues, a boat tour in the St. Lawrence, the Notre Dame Basillica.  Montreal is a collection of many small communities, similar to many European countries.  After our Montreal adventures, we will board Holland America Maasdam for a week long cruise to Boston.

This trip, we are joined with 3 other couples.  In the next post, I will share some short notes about the eight of us who are going.
